Writer’s Workshop: Shane’s Best Trait
When I first met Shane, I absolutely loved that he was good at just about everything. He was smart – and no matter the conversation, he’d always be able to chime in with some facts. He was handy - and fixed my broken toilet. He could cook – and was the one that started teaching me. He was able to do everything that I was either not capable of doing or too afraid to try.
Then I started losing my appreciation of his gifts. Instead of valuing what he could do, I started to resent what I wasn’t doing. The better he could do something, the worse I felt about myself. It got to where I almost hated how he could do everything! And the worse I felt about myself, the more frustrated and annoyed he got. What a vicious cycle!
All it took was stepping back from it a bit and realizing that just because he is good at something it doesn’t make me any less of a person. In fact, in reality I must be quite brilliant to have picked him!

- Spread mayo on the bread.
- Alternate Ham -> Turkey -> Cheese -> Ham -> Turkey -> Cheese

It doesn’t look like much, but it’s a nice little twist on a plain sandwich
